Aloha Babe

Let's be honest, pork is absolutely the most underrated, yet most delicious meat ever.  I'm talkin Bacon, Pulled Pork, Pork Chops, Prosciutto, Sausage, you get the point.  Hapa J's in San Clemente has the BEST fry dish comprised of Kahlua Pork, Hawaiian BBQ sauce, Cheddar cheese, and other kinds of monstrosities that coin these bad boys as Man Fries.  Their happy hour is ridiculous with draft beers of Prankster, Old Rasputin, Kona beers, and more for only $3.  Perfect to hit up after the beach or on a trip down to San Diego.  As for the food, this plate pictured above fed 4 people and left us perfectly satisfied.  Other recommendations include the Pork Sliders, Nacho's, and apparently their Taco Tuesday is one of the best.  Oh hometown, you always know just how to satisfy.

Tony's Darts Away

Ashley finally took me to Tony's Darts Away last night!  After months of drooling over photos she'd taken of Pyntch’s Mad Sweet-Potato Fries (middle photo) I finally got to try these fries that are tossed in a maple-chipotle glaze and crushed almonds.  And guess what... They're Vegan!  Weird huh, I think they're lying but hey, that's just my opinion.  I also tried to the Natural Pork Andouille Sausage with basil aioli, chili paste, slow grilled peppers, and onions.  To accompany such a feast they feature ALL California based brews to support our local economy, and there are a whopping 40 of them!  I had the Eagle Rock Red Velvet Rye Imperial Ale, totally awesome.  For dessert a good ol' Rasputin on Nitro.

Not onlt do I LOVE this place, I adore their extensive beer book library and endless amount of board games available to patrons.  It's a hop, skip, jump to here, located in Burbank.  What are you waiting for?  Go get your beer/grub/geek on people!

P.S. it's Vegan friendly, tons of options for you people.

Food Lab

Sunday Brunchday beckoned us to a cute little place in Silverlake called Food Lab.  A German American Breakfast/Lunch eatery offering up Nutella & Mascarpone Sugar Brioche (top photo) and Organic egg dishes such as Fingerling potato, caramelized onion, gruyere, and thick cut bacon omelettes (bottom photo).  Both were quite delicious... It doesn't get too crowded for a Sunday so I'd totally recommend it!
